  1. simm-o says:

correct me if i’m wrong but i thought one hd was ment to be a sports channel but now has so much junk on it that it is a waste of time even checking if there is any decent sports on again well done channel 10 you h ve affirmed my view that australian television and sports are a joke.. oh well guess ill get the full sports package when i move to the US in a month….

  2. Big V says:

Killed ONE HD from my TV for good. Will NEVER watch TEN, 11 or ONE again.

  3. Big V says:

hoping Fox Sports pick up the TNT rights. We have MLB, NHL ice hockey, NFL all decently covered but the NBA is the only US big four sport which I am very concerned of.

  4. Saliya De Silva says:

It is disguting to know that a first world country like Australia does not show NBA games on TV. We should be having more sports on TV.

  5. Aidan says:

Dammit Channel 10 has really dropped the ball on this one. Basically unless I pay $60 a month for foxtel I’ll never see the NBA. Really disappointed.

  6. LD says:

Jamie and Lauchlan should be smacked for shutting down ones original plan! Free NBA!

  7. rene says:

No way, after your poor showing of NBL games, leave NBA to the professionals! At least we can watch games live!

  8. Bill says:

    One sucks Ass

  9. Ray says:

I cannot believe that the L.A Lakers play MY Dallas Mavericks on TNT which normally would be on One HD on the 17th of Jan, Shame to all you, but I had a horrible feeling that there would be no NBA on free to air.

  10. Peter says:

It was painfully obvious from the moment Murdoch bought into Channel 10 that One HD would lose the NBA and they are not showing the NBL live. Why would you pay for Fox when you could get NBA, NBL and other sports for free on One HD? The idea is to force us all onto pay TV to see the sports we like to watch. The regulators should never have allowed this conflict of interest

  11. Ron says:

I ditched my Foxtel subscription last year thinking i’d be able to watch 2 gams a week.
    Thanks for nothing Channel 10

  12. Josh says:

This is f..king bulls..t.. I’m sick of not being able to watch the NBA..

  13. ANTHONY says:

Its an absolute joke that they arent showing NBA – absolute travesty.

    Shame on you 10/One.

Grow a pair and bring it back!!!

  14. Luke says:

No way, you need the NBA!

  15. tjr says:

What an abysmal piece of programming, from the bunch of traditionally mediocre middle management pencil pushers that are channel ten.
Why not go ahead and just put more money into shows like “It’s a knockout!” and “Young Talent Time”. What a f..king joke.

  16. Col says:

They should at least show all of Andrew Bogut’s games. It’s in the national interest.

  17. Ryan says:

It’s Friday. I hope everyone is enjoying Save Point, Guerrilla Gardeners, Beach Patrol and Jeopardy!

Instead, we could be watching Mavs @ Thunder followed by Knicks @ Lakers.

    ARGH!

  18. Craig says:

Does ONE think we are going to sit there and watch NBL games instead… yeah right! Bring back the real stuff!!!

  19. JC says:

Half they’re stuff they show is not even sport related. Mash, Jeopardy, Cops. They must be getting desperate.

I’d bet they’re ratings have gone down over the last 6months. With NFL soon over which I don’t watch anyways they’ll continue to go down IMO.

No NBA = Me skipping ONE Hd.

  20. Phil says:

One HD started losing the plot when they began covering netball. It was cheap and readily accessible, so those genius One executives hit us with hours of it thinking it would satisfy the market’s hunger for sport. Unfortunately, men form the majority of sports viewers and men are largely not interested in watching netball (other than a 1 minute ogle). Women for that matter aren’t big viewers of netball either – they’re great participants of the game, but they tend not to be arm chair fans.
So One increased their netball time, ratings for the channel plummeted, and One executives concluded that the “sport” format just wasn’t a ratings winner… and we arrive at the status quo.

  21. Okc fan says:

Please get it together and get the NBA back on free air tv.

  22. h says:

The NBA was the only thing worth watchi!ng on this channel. Pathetic

  23. ant naf says:

I try to encourage my boys to play outdoors–they emulate the nba players outdoors and instead your repeat fishing, sailing and sports in general that misalliance the word SPORT.If it is cheaper, play one replay a week. The ratings will there.

  24. C-Child says:

It would appear Australian commercial TV networks continue to turn it over when it comes to broadcasting HD sport. It began with the inexplicable decision of Network 7 launching its HD channel as ‘7mate’, a channel supposedly designed to target adult males, on AFL Grand Final Replay day 2010 and then proceeding to screen repeats of 70’s and 80’s TV series – programs never filmed in WS let alone HD – instead of the live AFL Grand Final. Now the tradition continues as Network 10 re-brand one HD by syphoning off its most compelling sporting content in favour or cheap and nasty comedies, dramas, reality TV and game shows. To me, the newly streamlined ‘one’ moniker and programming is little more than “‘one’ major disappointment”.

I’ll take ‘What would men rather watch in HD?’ for $1,000 thanks Alex. Repeats of Jeopardy, COPS, or the live NBA? I’ll take the NBA 100% of the time.

  25. Zac says:

    WHAT A CROCK OF SHIT!!!

  26. Dan says:

You can get Foxtel for $61, includes all the sports channels plus some others.
The College coverage on ESPN is great plus there’s Sportscentre covering all the trade talk. Worth $15 a week IMO or add $10 and get iq.

  27. Adam says:

I cant believe it, why is it so hard to play the nba free to air? I hate airline and all that other garbage, I thought One hd is supposed to be about sport live, sport all over the world I cant afford pay tv just for the nba.

  28. Tim 10 says:

NBA league pass is free until Jan 9. that’s something at least. but it is a rip off.

  29. David Stern says:

I can’t believe the NBA is not showing on One HD this yr. This is rubbish! how can they pull it now when its one of the most anticipated NBA seasons in history? Dumb a$$ move!

  30. Ryan says:

@Glenn, I couldn’t agree more. Thanks for your comment.

  31. Glenn says:

Are you kidding. The second most popular sport in the world behind soccer and Australian television can’t even telecast the best league in the world on free to air. Yet we can show crap shows like ‘beach patrol’ , ‘cops’ , ‘airline’ , ‘ifish’ and ‘jeopardy’. Then to make things worse they even repeat them !!!! Come on One HD get your act together. Your viewers care more about this great game, than drunks on a beach, thieves on the run, delayed planes, where to fish and some shitty American game show!!!

  32. Mike says:

I hope after the lockout the NBA reduces the licencing/broadcasting fees to get the fans back. Maybe Ten can negotiate a good deal.

  33. NYera says:

Just had a look on nba,com & still no updates on international TV schedule, grrr plz NBA give us some games on ONE HD!!

  34. jamie says:

Please cover the NBA for all the basketball lovers out there! We all would appreciate it.

  35. Ryan says:

@Stuart, nothing from One or TenSport is indicating that there’ll be NBA coverage this season. (Although, International TV coverage hasn’t been sorted by the NBA yet, and ESPN Australia haven’t updated their guides either.)

I’ve put some contact info for the relevant TEN subsections… let them know you’re feelings directly. Feel free to refer to this page.

  36. Stuart says:

Is this final verdict or is there some chance that they will pick up coverage at some stage? Have never seen such a one sided vote (565 of 566 say YES to it – who is the 1 who said no?) Very upsetting indeed if this remains the case.

  37. Hoop Lover says:

Viewers that don’t have the ability to afford Pay Per View TV or Cable TV only relies watching NBA on ONE HD. That becomes ONE HD very popular to all basketball lovers. ONE HD has been proud and successful of covering NBA games since 2008 i believe. A lot of advertisement had been widely notice while watching the NBA. Please make this happen again for all Australian viewers. Many Thanks.

  38. Ryan says:

@wade, it’s my nose too. It is incomprehensible that Network Ten have three channels and no place for the NBA. Surely live sport is better than repeats of trashy 30 minute highlight shows. Omnisport anyone?

  39. wade says:

Just rub our noses in it some more, no TNT coverage this year on free to air

  40. wade says:

so upset that nba may not been shown on free to air

  41. Ryan says:

@Tim, thanks. I’ve updated the post. Once the International TV Schedule is made available, I’ll update again.

  42. Tim says:

I read on twitter that OneHD won’t be showing the NBA this season. Can you confirm who will or do we just have to go back to the dark ages with ESPN the only provider?
