70,000 fans watch Duke break the hearts of Butler

I’ll be honest – I don’t get it. I don’t understand college sports. I don’t know how many teams play in the NCAA or how many divisions there are. I don’t know how basketball teams recruit players or how they’re ranked. I don’t know why most college player wouldn’t make it in the NBA or why John Wall is such a phenomenal prospect. The trouble is that I am Australian, and until One HD arrived, we haven’t seen college hoops since the 1980′s.

But I know this – when Butler stretched Duke all the way to the buzzer when Hayward’s three pointer bounced off the rim, none of my ignorance mattered. High stakes basketball played in front of a huge crowd and even larger national audience makes for gripping sports viewing.

I don’t think that I’ll ever understand college basketball, but even the most casual fan can enjoy the March Madness.
